1 YEAR OLD!!!

Ella Grace,

WOW! All I can say it Wow. How on earth are you 1 YEAR old!? 12 months. A toddler!? It just does not seem possible. Everyone always warns you about how fast your babies grow up, and well...that is most definitely true. I LOVE watching you grow everyday. Watching you learn all about this fascinating world around us. It is so mesmerizing to see you blossom into such a beautiful human being, every single day. It only makes me sad that you are getting older, because one day, which will be here much sooner than I am ready for, you will be all grown up and leaving your Mommy. That brings tears to my eyes. I know that is the way life goes, but I still will never want to be away from you. No matter what.

However, let's focus on the happy times this month. You are WALKING! You will take about 4-5 steps at a time, then get in a hurry and start crawling. You will be running in no time! We celebrated your first birthday party a week after your actual birthday and you had a blast! Most of our family were there with several close friends. You loved playing with all the other kids and getting lots of attention from all your grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins : ) We had the party in our backyard, decorated with LOTS of pink! You got to drink punch for the first time and of course loved your birthday cake! It was tons if fun. Mommy will make a separate post for you with all the details and pictures. You have, without a doubt, made this past year the best, most amazing, exciting, and fulfilling year of mine and your Daddy's lives. You have taught us what true, unconditional is. This year has definitely flown by, but on the other hand it is hard to imagine not ever having you in our lives. That seems so long ago that is was just us two. You bring SO much love and joy into our lives and our home. You are a sweet and very special child who I can already tell will have a very strong-willed personality! Which I LOVE! Because you also are very tender and loving. I can see you in the future using your strong personality for wonderful causes. I know you will do great things! And I am SO grateful and blessed to be your Mommy and be able to watch you grow into the amazing person you already are and will mature into throughout the upcoming years. I can only hope that your first year was as amazing and memorable as it was for me and Daddy. I pray that will will experience many, MANY more happy and blessed years! I love you more than you will ever understand and more than I will ever be able to express. Happy 1st Birthday sweet baby girl! Mommy loves you!!!!

12 Month Stats

Weight: 20 pounds 11 ounces (either you lost a few ounces since last month, or our scale at home is just a little different from the doctor's)

Length: 30 inches

Clothes size:  12 months, 12-18 months

Diaper size:  4

Daily Routine: You wake up around 7:30 A.M. Occasionally, you will sleep in until closer to 8, but not regularly. Unfortunately. At the beginning of this month, you were still nursing right after waking up, but since then we have cut out your morning nursing session and you have milk in a cup/bottle. You are still obsessed with cheerios, and we still eat lots of scrambled eggs and oatmeal. We either play until your morning nap or sometimes you watch "Baby Einstein." Depends on the day and your mood. You still take your first nap around 9:30-10:00 A.M. On a good day you sleep about 1 1/2 hours. On a bad day, only about 30 minutes. On a really bad day, no nap at all : / Those are always fun... Usually you will take some sort of morning nap. If you skip a nap, it is usually your afternoon one. You take a second nap (hopefully!) around 2-2:30 P.M. Then we play, have dinner and begin our bedtime routine around 6:30 P.M. You are in bed by 7-7:30 P.M.

Feeding: The weaning is going pretty well. We started out the month with you nursing twice a day, once in the mornings and once at bedtime. After a few weeks of that, we are down to only bedtime feedings. I'm really not sure how long this will continue, but I'm not stressing about it. We will get there. You are still loving all your table foods. Your favorites are cottage cheese, fruit, and cheese. Mommy let you try peanut butter and honey for the first time and you LOVED it! Also, Mommy made you heart-shaped greek yogurt pancakes for you 1st birthday breakfast. They were a big hit!

Sleep: Still sleeping like an angel, around 12 hours a night! Thank you!!!

Hair Color: Light brown

Eye color:  Light brown

Milestones: This month you started walking! YAY! You are also really starting to jabber a lot : ) Most of the time I have no clue what you are saying, but you do and that's all that matters. You now say "fish", "shoe," and "outside." You started giving "high five" when asked and we began brushing you two little toothies : )

Your favorite toy: BOOKS! You have always loved books (YAY!) but this month it seems you are always looking through books alone in your room or you want Mommy and/or Daddy to read to you. This is awesome and I love it! I will take full credit for this also, because unfortunately your Daddy is not a book work like Mommy. You also love to swing! Daddy built you your very own swing right in our backyard! We already use it quite a bit, and I know we will continue to throughout the summer : )

11 Months Old!

Yeap. I am "that" Mommy who is still posting monthly updates on my child's first year after she is already 1. Please forgive me. The good news is, I should be just about caught up though. And well on my way to a first birthday party post. Yay!

Ella Grace,

Happy 11 months! This has been such a fun FUN month! It's like you grow up more and more every night while you are sleeping. You are simply amazing. You crack me up and make me laugh so much everyday. Sometimes I swear I could just squeeze the poop out of ya, you are SO cute and SO funny : ) There is hardly a dull moment during our day. This month, you have also started showing a little attitude. You are quite the sassy little thing when you want to be. Sometimes I wonder how challenging your "terrible twos" are going to be when you can be such a stinker at 11 months! You have started so many new things this month. You started clapping! It is pretty much the cutest thing EVER. You clap when we say "patty cake", when we sing "If you're happy and you know it", when we sing other songs, you hear music, or just whenever you want. Oh yeah, and when you are proud of yourself or excited. You are just a little clapper you are : ) You have started holding the phone (and other things) up to your ear like you are talking on the phone. And you know that the doggies say "woof woof." That's really cute too! Ever since Mommy taught you that, you have been "woofing" all the time : ) Another thing you love to do lately is roll around on pillows and blankets. It's pretty funny. Or if there are none in the floor, you will simply improvise and empty a drawer full of clothes for you to roll around on. Silly girl you are! I can't believe Mommy is busily preparing for your FIRST birthday party! That is just crazy to me. Time flies! I love you sweet girl and I am excited to celebrate your first year here with us with our family and friends! I love you!

11 Month Stats

Weight: 21 pounds

Length: 29 inches

Clothes size:  12 months, 12-18 months

Diaper size:  4

Daily Routine: You wake up around 7:30 A.M. Occasionally, you will sleep in until closer to 8, but not regularly. Unfortunately. You are in bed by 7-7:30 P.M.

Feeding: I kept expecting you to start weaning yourself, but that hasn't starting happening yet so, this month I started weaning you slowly. I started by cutting out one daytime feeding, then a couple of weeks later, cut out all daytime feeds. That leaves us with morning and night feedings. You are doing good though and I feel confident you will be completely weaned shortly after your 1st birthday. You continue to be a good eater. Thankfully, I don't have to stress to much over what I'm gonna feed you because you will eat pretty much whatever I put in front of you ; )

Sleep: Still sleeping like an angel, around 12 hours a night! Thank you!!!

Hair Color: Light brown

Eye color:  Light brown

Milestones: This is the first month you signed back to Mommy! YAY! I began signing to you when you were around 4 months old, but you just now reciprocated! Your first sign was "more!" Since then you have also signed "eat" and "milk." I was SO excited! You also finally mastered drinking from a sippy cup. It only took buying about 8 different types of cups before we found one you liked, but we finally did.  You started clapping this month, holding the phone to your ear, saying "woof woof" and making "vroom, vroom" car noises : )

Your favorite toy: You are all about "B's" this month! You love balls, bubbles, and bowls!

Update and iPhone pics

Wow. What a whirlwind the last couple of weeks have been! Somebody forgot to tell me how stressful it is to host a birthday party at your house. Like W-H-O-A. However, we did have a great time with our friends and family celebrating our sweet girl's 1st birthday! I still can't believe I officially have a toddler! So crazy! Ella Grace officially turned ONE on May 12th and we have been super busy ever since : ) Here are some phone pictures of what's been going on around here since my baby turned a year old.

Ella Grace's Church Dedication

We participated in the parent-baby dedication ceremony at church the day after EG's birthday. Of course she wouldn't be still for even one picture...

1 Year Pediatrician Appointment

What makes getting shots all better? Frozen yogurt of course!

I feel like Ella Grace started acting so much older the day after she turned 1! She has been so funny lately and I have pictures to prove it.

Apparently ONE year olds...

Sit in little chairs at little tables like a big girl...

Wear crazy outfits while pushing around their push toys...

Are too cool for school while crusin' around town with Mommy...

Ride in the "big girl" buggies in Wal-Mart...with friends...

Climb all over the couch cushions...

And use said couch cushions to reach objects she is not suppose to reach...

Use the "potty seats" in stores...

Okay. I am a little ashamed of this one, but it still cracks me up! She doesn't look happy in the pic, but she actually laughed the whole time. I was absolutely desperate to use the restroom,  I was afraid she would start crawling across the disgusting floor if I had her stand, and the buggy couldn't go inside the stall. So, was left with no choice...By the way Babies 'R Us...HUGE fail!

And brush their teeth!

EG's two little toothies are just now all the way "up" out of the gums so we started brushing her teeth this week and she thought it was hysterical! She loved it : )

I have Sooooo much blogging to catch up on. I hope to catch up a little this week, but might not get a chance because hubby is working out of town all week and we are headed to visit him these last few days, so I won't have internet access. I hope you all have a great week!

Happy FIRST Birthday!

Ella Grace,

I am sitting here in our kitchen on the morning of your first birthday. When you woke up, Mommy and Daddy came into your room together and sang Happy Birthday to you! Mommy then made you heart-shaped pancakes (complete with a candle of course!) for breakfast and we sang to you again before we all enjoyed breakfast together. You will officially be ONE YEAR old at 12:08 p.m. (when this posted), but we started a little early : )

I just put you down for your morning nap and now I am just sitting in the quiet kitchen (Daddy is at work) trying to figure out how in the world this last year has come and passed so quickly!? I am such a whirlwind of emotions right now. It is SO fun and exciting watching you grow and become your own person, but it saddens me at the same time because I know with each passing year you will need Mommy less and less. Ever since the moment I brought you into this world, I have been totally overcome with the desire to be the very best Mommy for you because you are the very best little girl for me. I honestly lay in bed each day and wonder why on earth did God decide to send me such a perfect blessing. I have no words for how grateful I am for you. I am so thankful that God understands our hearts and feelings because when I try to express how much gratitude I have for Him allowing me to be your Mommy, all I can do is shed tears. Very HAPPY, grateful tears!!!

I know you won't remember this day and we actually won't be having your party until next week, but I hope you have a wonderful day today! And I hope with each passing birthday you understand what a blessing you are to our family and how much we love you! Thank you for being an amazing child and loving me. Happy 1st Birthday Baby Girl!!!!

BEST day of my LIFE!

10 Months Old!

Ella Grace,

Whoa. You are in the double digits now! I can't believe you are 10 months old. A mere 2 months until you are 1 YEAR. Whaaat!?!? I have to admit though, this age is pretty awesome : ) You are so so fun. And totally into everything. But it's cool because you're cool. We have so much fun together. You really enjoy anything. You are so "easy-going." Just one of the many, MANY things I love about you! This was an exciting month for you. You started doing all sorts of new things like waving, saying "bye-bye", and you even took your first steps...to Mommy! YAY! And, you got your ears pierced, which you can read about HERE. You also met two baby friends that I hope you grow to love as much as your Mommy loves their Mommies : ) I have noticed at church or just out in public that you really enjoy being around other children. You are totally a people watcher and you just crack me up with your expressions and stares you give some people. Although we really do need to work on your staring problem. You can 100% definitely blame that trait on your Daddy. He is the same exact way! Speaking of your Daddy, you look just. like. him. Which is great! Wonderful in fact because obviously he is a very handsome guy, but unfortunately you don't even look like you are related to me. Ha! Oh well. That's totally okay with me : ) You continue to be a busy, busy little girl. It is pretty much impossible to snap your monthly pictures these days. It proves to be a great challenge for Mommy, always ending with my heart rate up and sweating! Even though you run me to death all day, every day I would not change it for anything in the world! We love you sweet girl and I thank God every day He chose me to be your Mommy!

10 Month Stats

Weight:  20 pounds 5 ounces

Length: 28 1/2 inches

Clothes size:  9 months and 12 months

Diaper size:  4

Daily Routine: You are still waking up around 7 A.M. You nurse right after waking up, then play and lay around in bed with Mommy and Daddy for about an hour. You usually share Mommy's breakfast with her, then lay day for your morning nap around 9-9:30. After waking from your morning nap, you nurse again then we either play or run errands, depending on what day it is. After a small snack/lunch you go down for your second nap around 2:00 P.M. After your afternoon nap, we are just usually hanging around the house, cleaning and cooking dinner. You are starting to stay up a little later now, until about 6:30-7:00 P.M.

Feeding: You still nurse about 4 times a day. Once right after waking, twice during the day (although not for long) and once again at bedtime. I cannot think of any new foods you have tried this month. I am positive that you have, but I'm old and can't remember. But you still continue to eat great! The only thing you have not been crazy about is lasagna. Which completely shocked me because you love pasta and you love tomato sauce. I think it may have just been a mood. We will try it again sometime. Some of your favorites continue to be cheese (of course!), bread, pasta, sweet potatoes, carrots, and chicken.

Sleep: Still sleeping like an angel, around 12 hours a night! Thank you!!!

Hair Color: Light brown

Eye color:  Light brown

Milestones: Daddy has been teaching you to wave "bye-bye" for a little while now and you finally did! YAY! He was so proud : ) You also starting saying "bye-bye"! Mommy and Daddy took you to get your ears pierced and th big huge milestone for this month though...YOU TOOK YOUR FIRST STEPS! You took your first two independent steps to Mommy while we were playing in your room! I was so excited I screamed, ha! It was very cute : )

Your favorite toy: Your most favorite activity at this time is emptying out our kitchen cabinets! You LOVE it and you do it multiple times a day. Every single day. It makes a pretty big mess, but it allows me  a few minutes to cook dinner and I also feel like you learn so much exploring on your own. You love to take out all the bowls and fit them into one another and stack them. And you continue to empty dresser drawers every day too (pictured below). You also love to read books and take rides in your wagon. Actually you LOVE doing anything outside!
