Christmas Day 2011

First, I know what you're thinking..."Two posts in one day!?!?"Yeah, I know. Don't get use to it though. Just had an angel baby who took a great nap this morning! So, Mommy was able to get some stuff done : )

Ella Grace's first Christmas was just as wonderful as her first Christmas Eve! Her favorite part of opening gifts was ripping the bows off! She liked tearing the wrapping paper off too, but then she just wanted to eat it. She got lots of great toys!

The best part about Christmas this year was that we got to see most (missed my big sis!) of our immediate family (on my side). We are all spread out now and don't live close to one another so it was SO nice to get to see almost everyone at once! Ella Grace celebrated her first Christmas with Mommy and Daddy, of course, along with Nana and Papaw Pate, Uncle Jason and Aunt Dareath, and her cousins Tyler, Grayson, Hunter, Brendon, Jayden, Courtney and Hannah! She loved them all! And was such a good girl letting everyone hold her and play with her : )

We are SO incredibly blessed in SO many ways! We had an amazing Christmas and I know they will only get better from here!

Twas the Night Before Christmas

Christmas Eve is my favorite holiday. Mikey says it is not a holiday, but I beg to differ. It is probably my most favorite day of the year. Maybe even more than Christmas Day. There is just nothing like that anticipation that has been building up for weeks coming to a climax! Mix that with celebrating the birth of Jesus, baking cookies, wrapping gifts, and family time!!! i LOVE it!!! As I was rocking Ella Grace to sleep on Christmas Eve, I was so overwhelmed with emotions. Happy and sad. But mostly happy and GRATEFUL! Throughout the 1 1/2 years we tried to get pregnant, I had many, many days/nights wondering if I would ever have the opportunity to be a Mommy. If I would ever be putting my little one to sleep the night before Santa comes. As always, God's timing could not have been more perfect, once again teaching me to always keep my faith in Him. And for that I am eternally grateful! Praise be to Him! Wow, I got way off subject...but that's a good subject to get distracted by!

Anyway, as I was rocking her to sleep I could NOT believe how fast Christmastime flew by! Better yet, how fast the past year has flown! Last Christmas, I was 20 weeks preggo with EG and we had just found out we were having a little girl : ) I remember dreaming of what her first Christmas morning would be like on Christmas last year. Then it's like somebody flipped a switch, fast forwarded 365 days and BAM! I am holding my SEVEN month old on Christmas Eve. Excuse me! What!?!? Somebody should really invent a time-freezing machine. I digress.

So after my angel was peacefully sleeping on Christmas Eve I couldn't help but just sit and stare at our Christmas tree. Ella Grace's first Christmas tree. And give thanks for our baby and everything else we have been SO very blessed with. Mikey and I just sat and talked for about 30 minutes in the dim, quiet room lit only by the lights from our tree. Which was especially nice, since that was the first "real" conversation we had since probably Thanksgiving Day (gotta love retail holiday hours...not!) We thought about the memories we had made in the past year and recounted the day of EG's first Christmas Eve! It was a great night! And even though it makes me sad to think of my baby girl getting older every year, I am still excited to celebrate Christmas Eve year after year with her!!!

Santa got peanut butter Rudolph cookies this year! And oreo truffles!

Santa Clause came while EG was sleeping! She must have been a very good girl : )

Christmas: Round 1

We had two "Christmas Day's" around here! Nana Coop came down the weekend before Christmas and celebrated with us! We skyped with Papa so he could see Ella Grace open some gifts...or rather, just rip the bows off : ) They bought EG her first wagon and she LOVES it! We haven't been able to get outside and ride in it yet (waiting for Daddy to have a day off to go with us!), but she loves riding around the house and sitting in it with all her toys and watch TV. Ha!

First, here are some pictures I tried to take of EG in her Santa hat and a picture to email Papa Coop on Christmas day with her holding a "Merry Christmas" sign, but she wasn't in to picture taking that day so they aren't very good ones.

She was more interested in eating the sign. Of course.

And here are some pictures of her opening her gifts from Papa and Nana Coop!

"How does this thing work?"

She LOVES her "taggies"

Just relaxing. Checking out my goods!

I predict Daddy reading LOTS of princess books in the coming years! i LOVE it!

YAY for my Elf on the Shelf!

Making Christmas Ornaments

One afternoon about a month ago I decided that Ella Grace and I would make some ornaments with her handprints and footprints. It was messy, but fun. Unfortunately though they didn't really turn out like the recipe described so I ended up throwing most of them away. However, I didn't get some cute pictures of my little crafty partner though! I have SO much fun with my baby girl : )

Watching and playing while Mommy makes the dough!

i LOVED playing in the flour! And eating it!
