While I would love to say the above picture is an example of what my new year's workout routine will include, I cannot honestly mention that. I have always wanted to be a runner. I would love to be able to just throw on a pair of shorts and some tennis shoes and take off out my front door for a great workout anytime, but...I just can't! I have tried several times, but I just don't have the will power to push myself the way you have to to become a dedicated runner. However, I love to walk! I feel like I could walk for hours sometimes, especially when its a beautiful spring/summer day : ) So, I have decided this time around to just stick with what I like. I might attempt a light jog every now and again but I want to just be consistent with something. So...walking it is! Better than nothing, right!?
I also LOVE to weight train. Weight training offers great benefits overall and I actually enjoy it but I find it time consuming. So I have decided that I am just going to have to split up my cardio & weight training on different days to avoid being at the gym for 2 or so hours. I plan to do cardio on the mornings that I get off work and don't have to come back and then weight train on my off days. Hopefully, this plan will work for me!
As far as weight loss tips are concerned, I don't really have any except the obvious, but unpleasant...burn more calories than you take in. Watch your calories and fat intake. Sparkpeople is a GREAT website where you can totally personalize your diet & exercise routine. The website also offers a place to blog, great articles and healthy recipes...check it out!
