2010 in Review

WARNING: It's a long one...

I cannot believe 2010 will be behind us in mere hours!!! While I always welcome a new beginning and fresh start, it also kind of makes me sad to watch year after year just fly by...

This past year has been an interesting one for us, a good year, but it has definitely had its ups and downs. We started off the very beginning of this year with a job loss, which led us to do some praying and searching for what is it come for us. The job loss then sent us on another journey...Mikey returning to school full-time and only working part-time. While this has been a great challenge for us, it has just confirmed what I already know, that the Lord has it ALL in His hands and will take care of everything...just TRUST Him!!!

This year was also spent playing working in our first home, making it just how we want it! We are not quite there yet, but we have made lots of progress! Working on the house together and doing the work ourselves has brought us great joy (despite the stress at times) and a sense of satisfaction we could never have experienced had we just paid someone to do it. Also, we wouldn't have any of these projects completed had we paid someone to do them, because we couldn't have afforded that, ha! I am super excited to get a post together soon showing you guys everything we have done in the past year. We are currently working on crown molding in the living room so when that gets finished, I will try to get a post together.

Finishing up our fence : )

Working on building our patio

Starting on our hardwoods...ripping out carpet

Ripping up linoleum

We took a couple of fun trips this year also. In April, we stayed at the beach a few days for our 2 year anniversary which was WONDERFUL! I mean, is there anything better than the beach...really!?!? In June, we had a super fun long weekend on the lake with Mikey's parents, Matt and Liz and the boys! We really had a GREAT time and I hope we do it again next year!!! Then, in September we took a relaxing trip to the Georgia mountains to celebrate Mikey's 27th birthday! But...we actually ended up celebrating MUCH more that weekend! On September 11, 2010, we found out we were PREGNANT with our first baby, who we now know is Ella Grace : ) What an amazing gift from God for Mikey's birthday!!!

And now Mikey's Birthday trip in Georgia

These next few pictures were taken the day we found out we we're having a baby!

Finally, to wrap up the year, we just celebrated a wonderful holiday season : ) Despite the major unfortunate event we experienced in January, we still have SO much to be thankful for! We are inredibly blessed : ) This was the first Christmas since college that I was off and didn't have to work. I was VERY thankful for that! And we had a wonderful Christmas weekend together! While next year and all the ones following will be amazing with Ella Grace and eventually her siblings, it was nice to enjoy this last one together...just us two : )

I have no clue why, but I am a little sad to see 2010 go??? Must be the hormones...ha! I know 2011 will be AWESOME though because we will be meeting our baby girl!!! And what in the world could be better than that!?!?

Other random pictures from 2010...

I don't think we'll ever forget this day...HA!

This canoe trip was quite an adventure!

It's the MOST wonderful time of the year...

Well, it was...

Naturally, I am late posting. So this comes to you a few days after Christmas 2010! Mikey and I had a very "low key" Christmas this year. It was just us two and the pups. It was quiet, relaxing, and wonderful! I spent the whole morning in my PJs, finally showered that afternoon and put on fresh PJs for the rest of the was bliss! This was the FIRST year EVER in recorded history that Alabama saw a "White Christmas!" It snowed SO much, but sadly didn't really stick in our neighborhood. It was beautiful coming down though while we opened gifts and relaxed by the fire all day : )

I was SO terrible at taking pictures of our Christmas decorations this year! And I actually did a little more decorating than last year. However, next year is going to be BIG and only get bigger as Ella Grace gets older! I am SO stinkin excited!!!

My hubby is the best gift shopper EVER! I got some awesome pajamas (always a FAV!), cozy socks and slippers : ) A new bracelet and a big LeCreuset dutch oven!!!! Super pumped about that! Mikey got lots of hunting stuff...a new coat, boots, an iPod (since someone broke into my car and helped themselves to his old!), and some shirts and ties for work. That's not to mention my bookstore giftcard (score!) and robe and Mikey's Bass Pro gift card, all from Momma and Papa Coop! All in all, I would say Santa was pretty darn good to us both : )

And of course we didn't leave the puppies out! They each got toys and treats, which they were super psyched about : )

Anxiously awaiting presents, but Ellie is already being nosy : )

Charlie must have known he was getting treats...

Toby LOVED his toy! He couldn't even wait for us to take it off the packaging first! Ha!

That toy was going...nowhere!

Hard at work to take off an ear...

An hour later...mission accomplished!

I did not take a single picture of me or Mikey...shame! Oh well, I did get a few pictures of our tree and stockings though. I planned on taking some better pictures before we took the decorations down, but Mikey de-Christmastized (far fetched word, I know...) while I was at work last night : ( So these will have to do...

Hope you all had a VERY MERRY CHRSITMAS!!!

19 Weeks!

How far along? 19 weeks!

Sleep? Pretty good

Foods I am loving? Jalapenos!!!!! On everything!

Foods I am hating? Nothing really, the appetite is MUCH better these days!

Best moment this week? Feeling her move around in there

Movement? YES!! It is still pretty suttle but I decided the sensation I'm having has got to be her because I am feeling it LOTS these past couple of days : ) And one time at work I felt a definite 100% baby kick!!! But just once : (

Symptoms? Heartburn, congestion, sometimes the nausea creeps in a little but quickly goes away, thankfully!

Gender? GIRL!!! We finally got brave and committed to her name...Ella Grace! And yes, it is a double name...I just couldn't help myself : )

What I miss? Nothing these days!

What I'm looking forward to? Another ultrasound next week : )

Milestone: Finally feeling her move...but now I want to feel it more and more!

Laundry Room Makeover Complete...

So what if it's 6 months later!

You might remember THIS POST from back in April. We painted the laundry room, added some cabinets and a rug. All I was missing was these...

By the way, please take notice of the empty laundry basket in the floor! It's been months since I had NO laundry and I feel the need to point that out : )

It's hard to get a good picture of this entire room. So here are a couple of more views...

That's right...I finally got my new washer and dryer : ) : ) : ) And I LOVE them!!! I just can't get over how MUCH you can put in these things! It's amazing! I am SO proud of us too, because we looked and researched for months. We knew exactly what we wanted and here's the REALLY important part...we SAVED the money for them and they are paid for!!! WOO HOO!!!

I did have to be patient and put up with the old, small, leaky and slightly smelly washer for a while longer than I would have liked, but it was totally worth it! We got a great deal on the exact washer and dryer I wanted, half off the pedestals, AND...we are getting a $100 rebate in the mail : ) I just realized that with the rebate and the cash we sold the old set for, that paid for the pedestals! Yeap, I'm giving us a big pat on our backs!

Anyways, so my laundry room is now complete. I originally wanted to install cabinets about the washer and dryer, but since I can't even reach above the washer and dryer that would be pretty pointless, huh? I am SO thankful I can wash our king size comforter at home now and I know this extra large size will definitely come in handy say about May...when our baby girl arrives : )

I had 3 major items on my wishlist for the house:

1. Hardwood floors...Check!
2. Washer and Dryer...Check!
3. Granite check...but that's okay 2 out of 3 in less than a year is pretty darn good to me. Not to mention, most of our time, money, and energy was spend on the outside of the house when we first moved (storage building, fence, etc...) Unfortunately the granite will probably be a while because we have a NURSERY to focus on : ) And I couldn't be happier about that!

Stay tuned. Soon, in honor of closing on our house 1 year ago, I will be posting about all our DIY improvements...with pictures!
