New Beginning

I was super disappointed this morning when I realized I had overslept and was going to miss church : (  and I will also miss next Sunday because that is my weekend to work. I am really enjoying our sermons on the book of John and I am learning SO much about Jesus and I am LOVING it : ) Thankfully, our church does post the Sunday sermon videos online so I will be able to catch up, but it's just not the same as being there. Oh well, I will have to go to bed earlier on Saturday nights from now on!...I usually don't have that problem, I'm usually in bed by 10:00 p.m. which is weird for someone who works night shift. I have just really enjoyed spending time with my Mikey this weekend and didn't want to cut it short.

Since I slept until almost noon...yes, I know you can call me L-A-Z-Y...I missed a lot of productive morning time. We were going to head out to our backyard and work outside for a while, but we just continued to be lazy and hang out on the couch for a little while.

Today was not a total loss however...I declared today the start of my new year, ha! This year hasn't started off so great. We've had some unexpected surprises and I've had to work lots of overtime so I haven't exactly started my diet/exercise the way I planned. But today was the day!!!! I have begun my journey down the road to healthy : ) I even started running again...though not too much of course. We worked out together at the gym and also visited our local farmers' market for the first time. I am planning to attend some yoga and kickboxing classes this week. We'll see how that goes...

I might start doing a weekly post about my progress, I don't know...So, tomorrow begins the work week for me. I work the next two nights so you might not hear from me until later this week. Excuse me as I have a couch date with my hubby to watch "The Biggest Loser" and possibly "Brothers & Sisters." Goodnight All!

Drumroll Please.........

We have a fence!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!! This is probably not that exciting to anyone else but Mikey and I, but YAY!!! Mikey and Timbo worked SO SO SO hard to get us a fence built and I am SO grateful. Thanks again momma and papa coop for driving down to help us (well, not us...Mikey, ha!)! And thank you Mikey for working SO hard and in such yucky, cold weather to finish it alone! It looks GREAT and you did a wonderful job!!!! So, here are the best pictures I could get...

This is most of it...and yes, we are going to put grass in the back...Mikey had to clear the area out himself after we moved in. And that is Mikey's shop where he makes me all kinds of pretty things : )

The back of our fence and the left side is the neighbors side...ours looks better ; )

The back and right side : )

The right side looking towards the house

Toby and Mikey's "shop"

My love working on my shelf in his shop : )

Well, there you have it...our FIRST very own FENCED backyard : ) I can't wait until it's get warm outside so we can plant flowers and make it even cuter : ) and sit out and enjoy it! i LOVE it!!!!! : ) : ) : )

Troublesome Toby

I should have posted this last night, but I didn't think about it until now. Toby use to have a big problem with chewing things up...when he was a puppy of course, normal right? He outgrew this (thankfully!), but lately has regressed back to this stage of his life...unfortunately! I think it might be because of Charlie...I don't know. But anywho, when I sleep during the day usually Toby and Ellie sleep all day in the bed with me. On a few occasions these last couple of months Toby has made his way down to the floor, in my nursing bag, and then under our bed, a.k.a. "Toby's Clubhouse" to chew whatever treasures he has found. He has found all kinds of things in that bag he has decided to eat. Examples include the following: double chocolate chip cookies, granola bars, gauze, paper, vera bradley wallet, etc. Well, I took the blame a few times scolding myself for leaving food in the bag (honestly, I just don't think about it in mornings when I get home...I just lay down and crash). So, I stopped leaving food in the bag and the theft quit...until yesterday.

This is Toby's mug shot, ha! He does look sad and remorseful doesn't he!? : (

Again, the offender with the evidence

So, yes...Toby ATE the ENTIRE stethoscope except the parts with metal! I can't imagine why in the world he would want to eat this thing!? Although this was my cheap stethoscope, it was my FAVORITE and I got it when I started nursing school : (

So, R.I.P. my favorite stethoscope...you will be missed!

Okay, on to today. Unfortunately, I think I am getting sick : ( I have had this headache the past couple of days that just won't go away no matter what I take. It got so much worse last night and this morning I just feel like my head is going to pop at any moment! Now I can tell it's a sinus headache...bummer! I hate that because I can't really take any sinus medicine because I must be able to function at work. So wish me (and my patients) luck tonight and tomorrow night ; )

However, I have managed to get a little work done around the house today...

I hate to admit this is what one of my closets has looked like the past week or so. I have had my clean clothes sitting in this laundry basket for a while now. So just to prove I have done something productive today...

I FINALLY got my clean clothes put away! YAY for me!

And this is what my closets look like now...

View 1 of closet 1

View 2 of closet 1

And finally we have closet 2 : )

Now, I don't feel so bad about going to lay down for a little while before cooking dinner and heading off to work : ) Hope you all have a wonderful night! Tomorrow is the downhill slope towards the weekend, yay!

Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?

Have I mentioned how much I just LOVE and adore my husband!? He is SUCH a hard worker! And SO talented! Bless his heart, he has been out in the freezing, windy weather ALL day building our fence...all alone : ( He does so many things for us and I just feel like I don't thank him enough for everything he does. I am so thankful to God for sending me such a great person to spend my life with...I couldn't imagine sharing it with anyone else!!! So, THANK YOU honey for EVERYTHING you do!!!! I LOVE YOU with every part of me : )

My Honey working SO hard : )

And again...

The start of our fence : )...the gate actually...

Weekend Review

We had a lovely weekend here with the Coop family : ) Friday night Mikey's parent's came in town. Unfortunately I had to work so I didn't get to visit with them at all that night. Saturday, Mikey and Timbo worked very hard in our backyard (in the FREEZING cold might I add), to get the posts up for our upcoming fence...hopefully making its debut by this weekend : ) I wish SO badly I would have taken pictures of them working...it was hilarious!!! I was just too tired to get the camera that morning and I thought I would have the next day to take pictures. We then had dinner with Momma and Papa Coop Saturday night before they headed back home. I wish they could have stayed longer! I am SO thankful for their help though! I cannot WAIT to have our backyard fenced in so I don't feel so open to everybody and their mama!

Also, on Saturday night, my big sis came to stay with us before flying out the next morning for work. I don't get to see her too often so it's always nice to be able to catch up. And, she never disappoints with her entertaining stories of the adventures of my 3 nephews, ha! They are SO crazy. Just an example...one story involved Jayden (my 4 year-old nephew), a pair of tweezers, and an electrical outlet, ha!...yeah, you get the point! There's never a dull moment in their household with 3 boys!

Sunday morning was so peaceful for me! I got up, had a nice cup of coffee AND breakfast! That never happens before church. Usually I don't leave myself enough time for breakfast. It was a VERY rainy/gloomy/yucky morning but we enjoyed church so much. We are studying the book of John right now and I am LOVING it! I never realized how many great stories took place in this book. The Lord is just really opening my eyes and allowing me to understand him better through Jesus and I am so thankful for that! I just can't wait to go back every Sunday! After church, we had a nice lunch together and then shopped around a bit : ) Sunday afternoon was spent exploring the aisles of Lowes and Target, and may have included a trip to Starbucks.

Well, I guess I should wrap this post up. I feel I have just been rambling on and on about nothing. This week I hope to pick up the pace with my road to fitness! I MUST get my booty back to the gym...REGULARLY! So, after I get off work in the morning...I shall begin, wish me luck : )

YUMMY Goodness

A fellow blogger of mine requested my recipe for the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies seen HERE. And I figured since I had nothing worth blogging about today I would post it for anyone who is interested. I have to warn you though...they are pretty sweet. They taste like oatmeal cream pies without the cream...and with chocolate chips : ) So here you go...

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

1 1/4 cup softened butter
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Directions

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Beat together butter and sugars in large bowl until creamy.

Add egg and vanilla and beat well.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices in a smaller bowl.

Add flour mixture to the butter/sugar mixture and blend well.

Stir in oats and chocolate chips.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoon onto greased OR nonstick cookie sheet.

Bake for 10-12 mintues. Cookies should look slighty moist but starting to brown when done.

Makes approximately 56 cookies.

ENJOY!

SHOW US YOUR LIFE: Favorite Shopping Spots

So here we are again...Show Us Your Life Friday! This is an exciting post for me! I love being able to check out other people's post at Kelly's Korner to get ideas about each topic every Friday. I have several favorite shopping spots, but I will start with my most recent obsession. I know this one is not new to many, but it is to me...ETSY!!!!! I love etsy.com!! I love, Love, LOVE handmade things and thats basically all this site has! Etsy has the MOST adorable children's clothing and accessories I have EVER seen! When we have children, I may go bankrupt because of Etsy, ha! I even had Mikey checking it out yesterday : )

I bought this adorable hat from there for my best friend Kacey, who is expecting a little girl in March : )

I shop at lots of different stores such as Target, Forever 21, TJ Maxx, J Crew, Buckle, and others. However, my "go to" store has to be the Gap! I love the Gap...I love their style, the way the store is set up and what I love the most is that they ALWAYS have good sales! I hardly EVER (probably never) pay full price for anything in Gap because it always ends up being like 40% off in a few weeks. That makes me happy : ) I was just in there last weekend and spotted lots of cuteness for spring, but of course I must wait until the spring stuff goes on sale!

So, these are some of my fav shopping spots! What's your's?

Domain/Website Change

Not really sure how this will effect my followers, but just wanted to let you all know that I am changing our domain to http://www.ourbeautifuljourneyblog.com/. So if you lose me, try there!

Wordless Wednesday, then Tired on Thursday!

As I mentioned before this week has been pretty blah. I have been working, working and working. My pitiful excuse for a day off was yesterday. But when you get off work at 8 a.m., sleep, shower and return to work at 3:45 p.m. for class...I don't really consider that a day off : / Mikey and I did catch a dinner together last night, but before I could even get home I was already almost alseep again, ha! So, of course I passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow.

And here we are today...TIRED on Thursday! I had every intention of getting my hair cut this morning while Charlie took a visit to the vet, but that just didn't happen. And I also had every intention of making it to the gym today before work, but I'm having my doubts about that too, ha! I think I will make oatmeal chocolate chip cookies instead : ) One cool thing about this week is that Mikey and I have started reading this book called The Purpose Driven Life. It's not a new book by any means and I have heard about it for a while but never really thought about reading it. I was talking to one of my fellow nurses about it one night and she totally recommended it, so I thought we would try it out and read it together!

So far, it's GREAT! We are only on day 3 of 40 but I love the approach it's taking so far. I'll let you know how it goes : ) I'm pretty excited that momma and papa coop are coming to visit this weekend. Unfortunately, I won't be able to spend much time with them due to work, but Mikey will get to hang out with them and hopefully we will have a fence by the end of this weekend courtesy of their help : ) My big sis will also be stopping through for a night before flying out for work : )

Well, I must go prepare for work by relaxing, catching up on my DVR'd shows and solve the dilemma of gym vs. cookies...

UPDATE : Dilemma solved...

God is SO good!

Wow! What an incredibly gorgeous day outside. Sure, I could stand for it to be a little warmer, but mid-high 50s sure beats the heck out of the 20s! I am SO glad to see Alabama weather coming back! I hope its here to stay! Well, as you can see I have changed our blog around a little. I wanted to change the name so badly forever ago, but just couldn't think of anything I really liked or wasn't too corny, etc. This title may seem a little boring or cliche to you, but I LOVE it! I feel like it will truly represent what this blog is all about, which is our journey we are taking through life together as a married couple : ) I totally get that I'm not the most creative/interesting/clever blogger there is, but what I blog about is the things I want to remember 10, 20, 30 years down the road. Also, I am still VERY new to the whole blogging world. So, with that said I hope to continue to learn about and improve our blog so we and others can enjoy it to its fullest. One day I will break down and get a custom page made, but who knows when.

This week is going to be a BUSY one for me! I am working overtime as well as cramming in all kinds of mandatory meetings and classes for work, ugh! The only night I won't be working is Wednesday night, but it is already totally full. So, needless to say you might not hear from the Coop household much this week, but I will try my best to at least throw in a couple of posts this week. Today has been pretty productive so far. We slept in (kinda...), had our oven repaired (THANK THE LORD!)...i've never known how much I heart my oven til it's gone, ha!, went to the gym, had lunch, and a little laundry so far. But I still have lots I want to get done this afternoon before work tonight. So that means I better get to it huh!? I hope you guys all have a wonderful week : )

I've been dreaming about summertime and the beach lately, so I will leave you with this picture : )

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOBY!

So I feel SO bad that I forgot to post yesterday about Toby's birthday : ( But, Toby turned 4 years old yesterday, January 16. I cannot believe I've had Toby for almost 4 years! We have had some GREAT times together : ) Toby is just like my best friend. He is SO smart, such a good big brother, loving, caring and not to mention completely adorable! He's most definitely one-of-a-kind!!! He's been with me through a lot...good times and bad. I don't know what I will ever do without my Toby. I can't wait to celebrate a lot of more birthdays with you Toby. WE LOVE YOU TOBY!!!! Happy 4th Birthday : )

One of Toby's first pictures...can you get any cuter!?!?!?

Yes...he had a puppy polo : )

SHOW US HOW YOU LIVE: Weight loss tips, Diets and Workout Ideas

While I would love to say the above picture is an example of what my new year's workout routine will include, I cannot honestly mention that. I have always wanted to be a runner. I would love to be able to just throw on a pair of shorts and some tennis shoes and take off out my front door for a great workout anytime, but...I just can't! I have tried several times, but I just don't have the will power to push myself the way you have to to become a dedicated runner. However, I love to walk! I feel like I could walk for hours sometimes, especially when its a beautiful spring/summer day : ) So, I have decided this time around to just stick with what I like. I might attempt a light jog every now and again but I want to just be consistent with something. So...walking it is! Better than nothing, right!?

I also LOVE to weight train. Weight training offers great benefits overall and I actually enjoy it but I find it time consuming. So I have decided that I am just going to have to split up my cardio & weight training on different days to avoid being at the gym for 2 or so hours. I plan to do cardio on the mornings that I get off work and don't have to come back and then weight train on my off days. Hopefully, this plan will work for me!

As far as weight loss tips are concerned, I don't really have any except the obvious, but unpleasant...burn more calories than you take in. Watch your calories and fat intake. Sparkpeople is a GREAT website where you can totally personalize your diet & exercise routine. The website also offers a place to blog, great articles and healthy recipes...check it out!

I can't wait to check out everyone's posts about this subject. I can ALWAYS use great tips in this area of my life : ) Happy Friday!

Needing Prayers

Yesterday was not such a great day. Mikey lost his job...six weeks after we closed on our first home. Of course I feel lost, sad, and definitely worried but I honestly feel that the Lord has something wonderful coming from this unfortunate event. I want to please ask you all (although I know I only have 6 followers, ha!) to please pray for us. Please pray for Mikey that he holds his head high, doesn't lose hope and is able to trust in God to send him down the right path towards a job in which he will be able to follow God's will in performing. I also pray that we use this as an opportunity in our marriage to grow stronger together. Opportunities such as these opens up a door to be able to lean on each other and fully trust one another and feel that you always have a partner beside you to help hold you up during the tough days. Lastly, I would love your prayers to be mostly directed toward us using this oppotunity to grow closer to the Lord. This is a wonderful time to completely let go of any worry and thrust it upon the shoulders of God, as He wants us to do. I am trying my VERY hardest to do just this, but definitely need some prayers.

I hope this post isn't portrayed as a pity party because that is most definitely NOT what this is about. I wanted to vent a little but also ask for any prayers anyone would be willing to give : ) I just want to handle this situation in the best manner possible and I know that by your prayers and God's leading hand, I can do just that. Thank you for listening : ) I hope you all have a wonderful evening.

Blogger's Block

So, my blogging lately has definitely been less than desirable. Lately, I fell I have had some type of "blogger's block"...you know, as in the equivalent to writer's block...Okay, that might have been a stretch, but you know what I mean? Life for us lately has been pretty uneventful. I guess that could be a good thing, but just not healthy for my blog. I just LOVE our new house, but I still just can't feel 100% settled here. I guess it's because we have so many things to do (like build a fence), furniture to acquire, and decorations to purchase. I don't know exactly what it is...but I hope I start feeling completely settled in SOON : )

So, totally WAY off the subject but, I just have to say that graduate school REALLY stinks! I began this journey of getting my master's degree to be a nurse practitioner last spring. I took two classes and then took a "break". Honestly, it was SO much work. Going to school and working full time at the same time is nothing to laugh at. I thought only working three nights a week that classes would be a breeze, but wow...did I have another thing coming! Anywho, after my two-semester long "break", I find myself here again...in grad school, ugh! I thought for sure that I would be totally motivated and ready to get this behind me, but here I am blogging rather than posting discussions and researching as I should be and sadly I feel this is MUCH more important, ha! I just hope I find that much needed motivation to kick my butt into high gear and FAST!

This is probably the MOST pointless post yet, but hey...that's okay, right? I just wanted to vent a little. I hope that maybe my life will give me more to blog about soon. Work is lined up for the next two nights but maybe this weekend we will find something to get in to...and hopefully the temperature will reach above freezing : ) Hope you all have a nice Hump Day tomorrow!

SHOW US HOW YOU LIVE - New Year's Resolutions/Goals

First off, I do realize that I am a couple of days late posting this, but better late than never...right? So this year I decided to join Kelly's Korner in the "Show Us Your Life" posts each Friday. So of course it makes since to begin the new year with the New Year's resolutions and goals. So here goes...

1. Develop a deeper, closer and more intimate relationship with God. He has blessed me in every aspect of my life and I owe it to Him to give my time and love back to Him. He MUST become my FIRST priority!

2. Be a better wife. It's not that I think I am a bad wife now, ha! But Mikey is such a wonderful husband and he deserves everything I have to give to him. I pray that I can be the wife the Lord wants me to be.

3. Give more to others. This includes money, my time, gifts, etc. Sadly, I have never really focused on this area much in my life, but now is the time to start! I hope to find some sort of childrens' organization in our area to work with : )

4. Save money. We are working on becoming debt free so we can give to God and others freely! I can't wait for those days!!!! : ) But until then, I just keep asking the Lord to give us the determination and discipline we need to reach this goal.

5. I want to learn how to use my camera!!!! We bought a GREAT camera about this time last year, but don't really know how to get the most out of it. I bought a book specific to our camera and hope to become a pro with it by the end of this new year : )

I am SO excited about being a part of this blog idea : ) I hope I can stay on top of it each week!

i LOVE my Crimson Tide!

Alabama vs. Texas
37 - 21
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!
2009 National Champions!!!!!!!!

WOW!!!! It's been an OUTSTANDING football season for the Crimson Tide!!! An undefeated season, 22nd SEC Championship, first Heisman trophy winner, and the 13th National Championship!!!!!! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been a long time since we last won the national championship...not since 1992 to be exact. Although I was a die-hard Bama fan then also, I was only 6, so I appreciate this chance to experience this excitement again : ) I truly hope these players give God the glory that he deserves. He has given them amazing talent and determination. It's been a GREAT season as an Alabama fan : ) I will miss it tremendously until next fall but my nerves could use a break from football...and probably my blog could too, ha! So, until next year...ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i LOVE you BAMA : )

Snow and Alabama Football : )

Well, I 've been waiting on this day for a loooonnng time!!!! It's national championship game day!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!! It's been snowing a little today. We are suppose to get like 2 inches or something but I never believe it until I see it. People in Alabama are just totally RIDICULOUS with any mention of snow. School was cancelled, stores are closing, every grocery store in the area is sold out of ground beef (a key ingredient in my rotel I was planning on making for the game), and the eye doctor called and cancelled our eye appointments!!!! I am VERY irritated about that because I am in desparate need of glasses since Charlie decided to eat my old pair and I have a limited number of days I can go...UGH!!!! AND...there is still NO snow that has stuck!!!! JUST CRAZY!!!!

Okay, off my soapbox now...if we do get any significant amount of snow I will take some pictures and post them. For now, I am gonna curl up in front of the fire with my hubby and ESPN and wait...impatiently...to watch Alabama kick some Texas butt! Stay warm my friends and ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!

First Weekend of 2010

Our first weekend of 2010 has been pretty nice : ) We rung in the New Year with some college friends who came into town Thursday night. We had a great time, but I realize what an old married couple we are becoming everytime we try to have a late night out, ha! I cooked us a New Year's breakfast/brunch, then we just laid around/slept/was VERY lazy all day and all night Friday.

Most our weekend was centered around a little home project. We finally got Mikey a storage building for his "shop!" YAY : ) So, Saturday was spent getting the building delivered and then painted. Unfortnately, this process did not go quite as planned so it's a little unlevel at the moment, ha! But we will get that fixed sometime in the near future. It was SUPER cold so we bundled up and painted the building together : ) It really is a cute little building, I can't wait to put some pretty flowers in the flower boxes : )

Today, we went to church, had a nice lunch, then headed home to have a nice relaxing afternoon together. We have to finish painting the building and I have some laundry to get done for this week, but then I think we will have a dinner and movie night at home : ) Tomorrow Mikey starts working night shift with me!!!!! I am SO EXCITED about this!!!!!!! We have worked on opposite shifts for over a year and it wasn't fun, but now we will be able to spend more time together and be on the same schedule : )

I hope you all have had a GREAT start to 2010!!!

My Hopes for 2010

i LOVE beginning the New Year!!! There is just something so refreshing about having a fresh, new start...a "do-over" you might say, each year. No matter how the previous year treated you, you always get another chance to make the next one better : ) I have many areas in my life that I need to improve on this year, but I have narrowed it down to 5 specifics I am going to focus on for 2010. My goals for 2010 are the following:

I think I have set some exciting goals to work toward this new year! I hope I can live up to them ALL! I am SO EXCITED to see what 2010 has planned for us!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
