We ARE alive!

So, yeah it's been a  super crazy, LONG, hectic, exciting and sad week! You haven't heard from me in a while because we have been CLOSING on our house and MOVING : ) We are like 99.9% moved in. We only have a few more clothes/shoes and stuff like that to bring from the old house. It has been an exhausting week to say the least. Monday, we closed on the house...finally!!! YAY!!!! Mikey worked Monday and Tuesday, then he, Davis and Mark moved all our stuff Tuesday night! We stayed up until like 2 a.m. getting our stuff in the house...and it was a CRAZY HOT MESS!!!! Then, I had to work Wednesday and Thursday nights so I haven't got to really do anything at all, but Mikey is SO amazing! When he picked me up from work yesterday morning he had already unpacked the kitchen, living room and most of our bedroom and bathroom. Oh yeah, and he put up blinds in our room and put up a shower curtain rod! I know, he is totally the BEST husband in the WORLD : ) I love you Honey!

So, I just have to talk about this whole working on the holidays sucks!!! I was SO sad this year not to be able to spend time with our families on Thanksgiving : ( The older I get, the more I cherish times such as these and now I have to totally miss out completely on them : ( I was just hoping and praying SO bad yesterday that I could be sitting with my Daddy, eating turkey and my Mommy's Y-U-M-M-Y mac-n-cheese until I could pop, laughing at his crazy stories while all my nephews ran around. Oh, good times! It makes me almost cry : ( Oh well, I can't change it, and I know this is how our lives will be for a long time but I just wanted to whine about it anyway. I just don't think anybody should have to work on Thanksgiving or Christmas!!!!!!

On the other hand, I do have TONS to be thankful for this year! For one, even though I am complaining about it, I am thankful that I do have a job. I love what I do and feel very fortunate to be able to bring home an income...I just wish I didn't have to on holidays, ha! I am also more thankful than I could EVER begin to explain for my husband! Three years ago, I would have laughed in your face if you told me we would be married! I would have thought that was the most absurd thing I have ever heard! But here we are, two and a half years later...I thank God every single day for Mikey. I am 110% positive that I will be spending the rest of my life with the man God provided for me! That is such a wonderful feeling! And of course I am incredibly thankful for my family! My parents are the BEST! I have never done without anything, always had more than I needed, they raised me in church (which now as an adult I see how so VERY important that is), my Daddy has ALWAYS had GREAT advice...and somehow he is ALWAYS right...about everything, ha! They have never led me in the wrong direction, and always allowed me my independence I needed to become the person I am today. Thank you Mommy and Daddy, I am FOREVER grateful and LOVE you more than you will EVER know!!! Not only am I grateful for my side of the family but I now have another wonderful set of parents, brother and sister-in-law and beautiful nephews I am thankful for. I couldn't ask for better in-laws and I look forward to making tons of memories and traditions with you guys!!!! Thanks for everything you all have done for us!!! We LOVE and MISS you tons and wish we could visit more often! I could go on and on and on ALL night but you get the picture : ) Since it is Thanksgiving and all, I felt that I needed to add this paragraph.

Well, today is "Black Friday!" I am at work now, but when I get off in about oh...7 hours...we are heading to bed, bath, and beyond and maybe a couple of other stores to get a couple of things for the house. We can't get too much but we are just gonna get a little here and there. I am SUPER excited to put up the Christmas tree and decorations this weekend!!!! And of course today is the IRON BOWL!!!! ROLL TIDE!!!! We should have the internet hooked up at the house before the weekend is over so hopefully I will be able to keep you updated. I know this was a long post, but it's been forever since I have been able to get on!!! I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving and has a safe Black Friday...don't get in the middle of any fights at Wal-Mart, ha!

Finding Financial Peace

So, after reading two of Dave Ramsey's books and thinking what a great idea all of his concepts are, but never implementing them, we finally took the first step! YAY!!!! We are officially Financial Peace University (FPU) students. I always wanted to take the 13-week class offered at our church, but knew we could never make all the classes with our irregular schedules. So, I finally just committed and registered us for the online classes. It seems like it will work out very well for us. You still get to watch Dave teaching live classes and there is an enormous selection of tools and resources on the website. I feel very fortunate and  blessed to have the income we have and what God has given us, but I know we have way too much debt (any debt is too much!), and I want to be able to give more to God and others!

BEFORE: This is the before picture of our broken piggy bank (aka savings account), ha!

By following Dave's plan (and we WILL stick with it), we should be able to put our piggy bank back together and and make it a FAT piggy : ) I totally 100% believe we can do this, we just have to learn discipline and self control (like NOT buying any more Charlie's, ha!) Mikey is totally on board with me too and I am SO thankful and excited for that!

AFTER: This will be our piggy bank after completing the "baby steps" : )

This will NOT be easy and definitely not fun at times, but totally worth it in the end! I want to be able to give to the Lord and others freely without having to worry about emergencies, bills, etc. Also, I don't want our children to have to start their careers with thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars of student loan debt. This was not an option for us, but that's why we want to "change our family tree" as Dave says.

GREAT news!!!! We have already completed baby step #1!!! YAY! Baby step #1 is establishing a "baby" emergency fund designated for unexpected events while working on paying off debt. We have been saving this money for purchases for our new home, but we decided together it would be best to just go ahead and have this fund set up. This isn't the most exciting decision, but the smartest. That's what this whole program is about, right? Besides, I can just save up again to buy towels, furniture, and cute things for the house (i just keep telling myself this). I am SO excited to start this journey with my hubby. I'm sure I will be on here from time to time whining about what I want but can't buy, but it's my blog and that's what it's for, right?, ha! So, please pray for us that we will stand strong, stay focused, and apply these principles we are learning to our life.

Packin' Up

This picture represents how I am starting to feel...surrounded by boxes! I don't think I have EVER been so excited to move though! If you would have asked me 6 months ago if we would be buying a house I would have laughed at you. This whole journey has been unexpected but I am SO happy we decided to take this step in our lives. I am a little nervous, but so ready to have something that is OURS : ) We are officially 1 week from the closing date. I will probably be counting down all week, ha! I slept most of the day after working all weekend (LONGEST weekend EVER, ugh!), but Mikey worked super hard to get lots of packing done. After I woke up this afternoon, we got some Starbucks and got back to work. We have a good bit packed but still enough left. I have to get busy on my closets and bathroom tomorrow...yay. I think Toby and Ellie know exactly what's going on. Poor things have been moved SO many times in their short lives, 5 to be exact. But Charlie is clueless, as always. He is such an airhead of a dog! They are going to LOVE our new house though : ) They will have their own yard, yay! I know they are just as excited as me : ) I have already bought us some new address labels and I can't wait to use them, hee hee! Mikey thinks I'm ridiculous, but they are a necessity, right? Well, I guess I better get back to packing. Only a little more then calling it a night. Sleep Tight!

Checking in...

Yeah, I'm still alive, ha! It has been a crazy busy week so I haven't had any time to blog : ( I worked all the beginning of the week and this entire weekend...bummer i know! But overtime = good paycheck : ) Well, lets see...some updates...

Charlie - He's doing much better with the training. He took his first vet trip Thursday where he cost me an arm and a leg or course, but he did good. He's definitely staying with us now after all this money I've spent! I surely do hope that this was the LAST vet visit for a LONG time! They have gotten all my overtime money this past month! He and Toby are starting to play together more, but Ellie is still not sure what to think when he tries to play with her...she might not ever, ha!

Toby and Charlie playing : )

House - WE HAVE A CLOSING DATE.......YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO excited! After several MONTHS of trying to buy a house, I think we might actually be getting there. This has been an extremely long, frustrating process but I am SO happy that we will have a home soon! It's going to be a crazy, crazy rest of the month with the holidays, working and moving but it will SO be worth it! November 23, 2009 is the BIG day! Please pray that everything goes well and we have NO more setbacks!

And of course...

Alabama vs. Mississippi State
31 - 3

The Crimson Tide is now 10-0! We have had a great season this year. We have so many talented players that contribute to the victory of this team...and I am VERY thankful for that, ha! We will be playing Tennessee-Chattanooga next week and then...the Iron Bowl! So, Bama get rested and get pumped! And out, we are getting ready for you! I can't wait to gator chomp your team and your coach! : )

Hopefully this coming week will be a little more laid back than last. Although, it will involve LOTS of packing and cleaning. We are planning on having a dinner and movie date next weekend, but other than that we will be at home working on our big move! I hope you all have a wonderful night and rest of the weekend!

Sunday Reflection

Today I was SO incredibly disappointed that we overslept and couldn't make it to church on time :( But instead we had some quiet time to ourselves. I have mentioned before about the videos we have been seeing in church this fall. All the videos follow the theme "Hope During Difficult Times." Each story is different, and they are all tear jerkers but they all show wonderful examples of how by always keeping faith in Jesus, especially during sad and tragic times, He will never leave or forsake you. We sat together and watched all the videos we had missed during the Sundays we had to work and couldn't go to church. They are all great, but the first one we saw still stands out to me and speaks straight to my heart. It just breaks my heart to watch it, but also gives me SO much hope knowing that I have a loving Lord that will ALWAYS walk with me through whatever troubles I will ever face in my lifetime. I am going to post this video if you want to watch it. WARNING: You might need tissue. (If you click on the video once it begins playing, you will be able to view it better).

If you are interested in watching the other videos, you can find them HERE.

The rest of the day was just like any ole' day. I have been doing laundry, running errands, and Mikey has been working on finishing our nightstands for our bedroom. I have a pretty busy week ahead. I am working overtime plus going to a meeting my boss asked me to attend on my day off, so probably won't be an overly exciting week for us. I am SO hoping we get a closing date by the end of the week. I will just keep praying! I hope you all have a WONDERFUL week!

SEC Championship Bound!

Heck yeah! We are 9-0 now! I am SOOOOO happy we beat LSU! Hallelujah!!!! I can't stand them! This win also locked us into playing for the SEC title against Florida next month...another team I hate! But we will handle them then. We still have two more conference games, one of which is the Iron Bowl so we can't stop here! We were pretty laid back today. We just slept late...again, ha! Then watched the BAMA game. After watching the very nerve-wracking, but exciting game we were headed out for a night out on the town. We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, but rather than going out after dinner, we just decided to go to Barnes and Noble for Starbucks and books : ) I love B&N dates, they make me happy! I got a new Bible too! I'm pretty excited about that. We are going to go to early church in the morning then I think to Homestead Hollow for the afternoon. My throat is SO sore from yelling for my Crimson Tide and I am pretty tired from all the jumping up and down and yelling at the, I am going to call it a night with my honey. Sleep tight!

Headed out to celebrate the win! ROLL TIDE ROLL : )

Fun Day Friday

Today was a wonderful day : ) We slept in, I made a big breakfast (my favorite meal, yum!), then headed out. Today we went to Christmas Village! It was SO much fun! This is the first year I have ever gone (crazy since I have lived here most of my life), but it definitely pleased me! I will for sure be attending this event every year! It was HUGE, they had all kinds of crafts, gifts, food, and TONS of things for children : ) We got a few frames for some wedding pictures. There was SO much stuff I wanted, but you know...hopefully buying a house soon we couldn't go too crazy. Last night was a great night too. We went to the mall and had dinner, walked around a little then headed to the dollar movies : ) We saw The Time Traveler's Wife, it was really good...a little confusing but still a good movie. For the rest of the night we are going to have a little wine, TV, and board games...FUN! Tomorrow is a big day for the Crimson Tide! We play LSU, ugh! I can't stand LSU!!!! So, it will be a nerve wracking day for me! Hopefully we will KICK their BUTT and remain undefeated...ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!! Nighty Night!

One of the frames we got at Christmas Village, that's the song we danced our first dance to...gonna put a wedding picture in it if we EVER get them!

i LOVE this one! it's gonna go in our matches our nightstands Mikey made : )

This one will be used one day : ) but I love the saying so I went ahead and bought it

Another ol' Monday

Okay, I promise one day I will have a post that is not about our dogs. But at this point in our lives they pretty much get all our attention, ha! So, today is my start of a 3 day work stretch so I am doing my usual of straightening up the house, doing the laundry and cooking. Also, we took the dogs on a walk in this gorgeous weather and they all got baths! Toby got a haircut too which he desparately needed! I hate that this post isn't that interesting but this is a day in our lives :)

Hopefully, we will be closing on the house in 2 weeks! I try not to think much about it until it actually happens! But I do feel like we are getting closer each day, yay! I can't WAIT until we have a HOME! :) So, I probably won't post the next couple of days because I will be working but this weekend should be fun, so maybe I'll have some good stuff then. Have a Good Night and Week! :)

Happy Halloween

Halloween wasn't the biggest occasion around here, but the pups did all get costumes that they wore while we handed out candy. We didn't have too many trick-or-treaters but at least we had some. This is the first Halloween Mikey and I have been able to spend together and hand out candy. I had to work last year so I was happy to be able to be at home, especially since the time changes and I would have to work an extra hour, yuck! I did that last year...NOT fun! Not much to talk about...Toby is ALL better now, YAY! I was SO worried about him, he had such a rough couple of days. Charlie is still learning to train but is doing much better than he was. I just wish he would hurry already! And Ellie, well she's just Ellie...just prancing around and acting like a princess : ) Tonight, I am just going to have dinner and cuddle with my hubby! I can't ask for much more than that : ) I will end with our Halloween pictures. Good Night!

Ellie the Bumble Bee

Charlie the Cow

I don't think Charlie was too fond of his cow costume...he kept taking off the head!
