My Job

This post will probably be perceived as a bit corny, but since I am blogging to have a diary to look back on in the years to come, I am trying to include as many aspects of our current life as possible. So, since I officially start my new position at work tonight, I thought this would be a good time to blog about what I do for a living! So, of course you all know that I am an RN. I have worked in the Women's and Infants' Division since I graduated, mostly in the Mother/Baby unit. If you know me well, you know that I am a pediatric nurse at heart and so of course I LOVE the "baby" side of my job. Also, I have learned to really enjoy and to cherish special moments with the families I am working with during this exciting time in their life :) That's why I am SO excited to officially start my new position tonight as a Delivery Care Team (DCT) RN.

I will still be working in the same unit, I will just have different responsibilities. I will get to admit ALL the newborn babies (immediately after birth), in the labor room with the mommy and family. This is especially exciting to me because I get to be involved in the initial excitement of the whole situation. It's a little crazy at times, but so exciting. I get to be the first person to educate this mother about her new baby and share all the exciting news and infomation about her precious little one to her and the family. New moms are especially fun :)

I really feel that I have found a position that I can excel in, and truly love performing my job. I feel very fortunate to be able to come into the lives of strangers and share this personal, very joyous occasion with them! It's so exciting to educate them about their newborn and just watch their eyes light up in excitement as they learn how to provide for their new addition. So, hopefully tonight will be a great night at work! but not too many babies in a 12 hour period, please, ha! Have a GREAT evening! To come...Mikey's job posting, ha!

On my way to work!
